Ramp to the oval
Work on the ramp to the oval will be starting on Thursday 7 August. This is the final stage in our oval redevelopment. This will be a very exciting addition and enable enhanced access to the site. Thank you to our P&C for helping to fund this amazing addition to our school.
Thank you, staff
School camps are a fantastic experience and opportunity for our children to develop independence, resilience, communication skills, leadership skills and engage in curriculum activities in real world contexts. This term, our teachers and teacher aides will be attending camps in years 4 (Tangalooma), 5 (Currimundi) and 6 (Cairns). Thank you to staff who have or will be attending the camps and staff back at school who support the camp preparations. Your support in providing the camping experience for Morningside children is greatly appreciated!
Unwell children
At this time of the year there are colds, flu and other viruses in our community. Sick children should not attend school, and parents will be called to collect their children if they are unwell at school.
School Opinion Survey
Thank you to all of those who have already completed the Parent/Caregiver Survey. If you have not had a chance to complete the survey yet, please note that the online surveys will remain open until Friday 22 August 2025. This is your opportunity to provide feedback about what our school does well and how we can improve. To have your say, check your email for an invitation from the Department of Education titled School Opinion Survey for parents and caregivers, 2025.
Term 3 Pupil Free Day
Friday 5 September is a Pupil Free Day for all schools. Please mark this day in your diary and make arrangements for your child.
Is your family leaving Morningside State School at the end of this year?
As Education Queensland Schools are staffed according to enrolment numbers, it is very important that we have an accurate knowledge of our enrolment numbers for 2026. This will help to ensure that classes can be developed before the end of this year and there is minimal disruption or need to reform classes at the start of the school year in 2026.
If your family is leaving at the end of this year and will not be returning to Morningside State School in 2026, we would appreciate you letting our office know as soon as possible. Please also let our office know if your child / children will be returning late to school in the 2026 school year. School starts on Tuesday 27 January 2026.
Please contact our office on admin@morningsidess.eq.edu.au .
Have a fantastic fortnight!

Our Gala Day sporting event is going ahead this term, on Thursday 4September, in conjunction with other schools in our district. This will include all our Yr 4-6 students.
Students will nominate to compete in one of the following three sports: Netball, Soccer and Australian Rules Football (AFL). Students compete in a fun and friendly format against students from other nearby schools. The focus is on enjoyment and participation. There are no awards, such as medals and trophies, given out at Gala Day. The three sports are held at various locations, details of which will be published on consent forms. Students will not be able to make late changes to their sporting selections due to administration and other reasons.
More details to follow.

Bushtucker Trail
One of our key initiatives for our Pick of the Crop program grant is to expand our bushtucker plantings and develop signage to help everyone identify these important plants. Keep an eye out for our new garden signs that show the kinds of bushtucker plants that are growing here at MSS. We are also working on a map so that students and teachers can enjoy exploring the bushtucker trail around the school grounds.

10c Container Collections
For anyone who doesn’t know, we have collection bins for 10c containers at MSS. They are located near the pool gate and under admin. Alternatively, if you want to take your containers directly to a recycler and send your refund to the school – use the code C11355967. The money raised from this initiative helps fund our environmental projects so all contributions are greatly appreciated.

OSHC is back for before and after school sessions in Term 3! Over the past two weeks, the children have been getting creative with their awesome army base constructions for our new army men resource! At sport, we’ve been scoring goals on the oval, shooting hoops on the multipurpose courts, and getting our boogie on with Just Dance in the Hall, giving children the freedom to pursue their sporting passions! Meanwhile in our main room Milperra, we’ve been getting crafty with Art Club, and even had some new fish friends join the service in our OSHC fishtank!
