End of Term 3 has arrived
We would like to thank all our families for a wonderful term and for supporting our school and our children. The children have all worked very hard this term and we hope that they all have a fantastic break. Term 4 will start on Tuesday 7 October.
Gala Day
Congratulations to our Years 4 – 6 students who attended Gala Day in Week 8. The children played in teams in the sports of soccer, AFL and netball against our local schools. Mr Gilmore and I visited each venue, and we were super impressed with the R.I.S.E. behaviour and excellent effort we saw with all the Morningside children. Well done, Morningside! We are proud of you!
Senior Band Camp
Congratulations to Aaron, Samara, Ruby, Eliza, Poppy, Ella and Poppy who attended the Senior Band Camp at Chandler last week. These high performing students had the opportunity to engage in a combined band and intensively focus on their instrument with students and music teachers from across south Brisbane. The final concert was amazing!
Parent / Teacher Interviews
In Weeks 9 and 10 of this term, and Weeks 1 and 2 of Term 4, parents have been invited to come into school and meet with their child’s class teacher to discuss their child’s progress to date this year. This is an important opportunity for parents to connect with their child’s class teacher to celebrate their child’s learning and help support their child’s learning for the rest of the year.
Bookings for Parent Teacher Interviews are now open. Please click on the link below, to book an interview.
Lost Property
Please ensure you check out lost property before the school holidays. All unclaimed lost property will be donated to the second-hand uniform shop.
2026 Prep enrolments and interviews
If your child will be turning 5 by June 30, 2026, they are eligible to enrol in Prep next year. Our 2026 Prep interviews have started, and these interviews are an important part of the process to help our new children have a positive and successful transition to Prep. Please contact our office if your child is due to start Prep in 2026 and you have not yet completed the enrolment forms. A “Prep Orientation Day” and “Meet the Teacher Day” will be held in Term 4.
SCHOOL WATCH
During the school holidays, Look, Listen, Report and help keep our school safe. If you see something suspicious, contact School Watch on 13 17 88 and report any incidents you see or hear, even if they appear to be minor. If it’s an emergency, call triple zero (000).
Have a fantastic holiday!

Children will have the opportunity to view all the art pieces in the afternoon before the end of the school day. Any children who attend the night event need to be under the full supervision of a parent or an adult.

Save the Koala & Threatened Species Month
The month of September is ‘Save the Koala’ month where we focus on learning about how we can save our precious koalas and other endangered native animals.
Recently our Year 1's and Environment Captains had the great joy of an incursion from Geckoes Wildlife group and were able to get up close and personal with a whole range of animals. They also learned about how we can all help to protect native animals. Some great photos were captured by Ms Edmed (thank you!).

Just a reminder, we are continuing to raise funds to support Koala Rescue Brisbane South. All money raised during September through our 10c container collections will be donated to this group. This is a great way for families to help. Bag up your 10c containers and bring them to the collection bins under A Block or beside the pool gate on Pashen St.

Flyers Highlights
- Our season starts in the second week of Term 4 and runs until late March 2026.
- We are a club that embraces volunteering! We create a roster across the season for parents to support the smooth running of club nights - timekeeping, marshalling, BBQ and canteen duties - All for our happy swimmers!
- Pay only $140 for the full season with significant family discounts for each additional child.
- Club nights start at 5.45pm on a Tuesday night at our very own Morningside State School pool.
- We offer all strokes from 12.5m (half pool) up to 100m for our more senior swimmers
- All levels and abilities are welcome. We welcome the most junior swimmers through to early teens
- Younger siblings can join in with 12.5m noodle races (flotation assisted).
- If your child is heading off to high school next year, you can join just for Term 4 and then see if you want to rejoin for Term 1 in the new year. Some of our past senior swimmers have enjoyed returning to Flyers after starting high school, whether it be to keep in touch with some of their Flyers friends or to enjoy the familiarity of their Morningside School community after the changes that the new high school environment brings
- All swimmers are welcome to join the Flyers – so invite your friends! We always have members from our local community who attend other local schools.
Come and join the Morningside Flyers – hang out with friends and make some new ones! We are also keen to expand our committee - so if you’d like to help us out, please contact us on the E-Mail address above.
